On May 5th and 6th, CSUB hosted the 2007 American Cancer Society Relay for Life. For those who aren't familiar with the event, it is an annual overnight event that raises awareness of cancer in the community and also raises money to help fight the illness . The event is made up of different teams, either families, friends, co-workers, etc., and the main idea is to have at least one member of a team walking a track at all times, over a 24 hr period...(because cancer never sleeps).
This years relay earn over 1.7 million dollars for cancer causes. Bakersfield is the second largest relay in the country. Your Bakersfield Firefighters are proud to take part in this event. Each year our goal is to raise more money and to have more volunteers contribute to this worthy cause. We look forward to next years relay. Look for more information at the begining on next year. Thanks to all those who made this event a success.
